Getting Ready For New Home Builder

If you are planning a new home your builder will expect you to have  worked through a few things before they can begin to plot out with you  exactly what you want and need. This is possibly one of the biggest  investments you’ll ever make, so it’s important to get it right from the  start. Planning everything is key to making the whole process run  smoothly.

Start with money in mind. Let’s face it, we all want an  unlimited budget to work with but often we need to make some hard calls  in terms of what we do and do not need. It can be easy to slip over your  budget considerably if you don’t work out your must haves first, focus  on them and then let the other bits and pieces fit in around them. Focus  on structural needs before worrying about furnishings if you are  planning to stay for a long period of time, as the framework is  difficult and costly to alter if you’ve made too many concessions there.  When looking at your finances, mentally take off a portion to reserve  for any unexpected costs.

Think about where you’ll place your new  home. A builder can help you work out where on a section the house can  best sit in terms of light, sounds and neighbors, but you are the one  who will be living in it. If you’re building in a new subdivision, you  may want to consider fencing to keep your privacy.

Use a building  company you feel comfortable with. You’ll be working with them closely  over the build, and so you’ll need to be able to trust them. Do they get  your vision? Do their off the shelf plans look like the type of place  you would create yourself (or better?). If you go to their showrooms, do  you feel you’re walking in the type of place you’d want to live in?

It  is important to find a home building company that you trust and  respect. You don’t want to be stressing out over all the little  decisions, but rather feel that you can hand these over to someone who  has great working networks to locate the best electricians, joiners,  excavators and all the other people needed.

Find a new home  builder who you know is going to create a real result from the plans and  images you’ve had in your mind from the moment you decided to build.  Once you’re moved in and settled you’ll be so grateful you did.
